Current Needs

Each week we attempt, with the Lord's help, to provide those who attend Sunday School and our worship service with a little food and their five most needed items.  Please note separate needs lists for Fish House and Children's Programs.  Your gifts are tax deductible.  Jesus Place is recognized by the IRS as a 501 (C) (3) nonprofit organization.

Can you help provide some of our current needs?  

Homeless Needs   (Last Updated July 24, 2009)

       Men’s workpants or jeans (waist 30-40, length 31+; new or gently used)

      Men’s Workboots or Tennis Shoes (new or gently used, sizes 9-13)

      Shirts (Large, XL, and XXL long-sleeved, gently used)

       Blankets (twin size preferred, please no lap blankets or bedspreads)

      Athletic Socks (new only)

      Underwear (boxers and briefs, new only, Medium, Large, and X-large)

      Book bags or Gym bags

      “Dollar Store” reading glasses (all strengths)

       Deodorant with Anti-perspirant 

      Sample / Travel-Sized Shampoo or empty film canisters with lids

      Work teams for various small jobs at Longley Ave. building

       Speakers for Auditorium (to accompany sound board already donated) 

      Men's Heavy Winter Coats (Large, XL, and XXL, gently used) Will Store for Winter!

 Fish House   (Last Updated July 24, 2009)

Program Manager to lead small, transitional, residential, recovery program to help homeless men overcome addiction and move toward autonomy and Christian discipleship.

Requirements: Must have experience in substance abuse therapy and have a heart for discipleship.  Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.  Certification as addiction counselor a plus.  Minimum 2 year commitment.

Responsibilities:  Supervise the recovery of 4 homeless men at a time to include leading Bible Study, support groups (Christian AA), church attendance, career development, etc. as well as organizing the home.  Program Manager’s residence is a newly renovated apartment separate but adjacent to 3-bedroom home sharing 10 acres.

Location:  South Fulton County near Atlanta, GA.

Mission Statement:  The “Fish House,” a ministry of Jesus Place Inner City Mission, is a 6-12 month program designed to encourage, equip and disciple homeless men with the goals of achieving quality employment, housing, restoration to family and active membership in a local church body.

Motto:  Fish House Program:  “Fishing for Men; Equipping Men to Fish”

 About Jesus Place:  The Mission of Jesus Place Inner City Mission is to promote Christ and His Church in the City of Atlanta through evangelism, discipleship and a variety of outreach programs.  Jesus Place has existed since 1970 and was founded in an effort to aid Christian Churches / Churches of Christ in taking the Gospel to a lost city.  We hold firmly the values of the Restoration Movement and the doctrine of the New Testament.

 Compensation:  To include salary, housing, health insurance and some expenses.
